People jumping up and running away, people silent and motionless, people bursting into uncontrollable laughter and thousands of screams, cheers, claps and hand shakes.
These are just some of the reactions I have had performing Anything.
Anything is a routine that I have devised from classic principles in mentalism to give you a surefire, 100% bang on prediction of pretty much anything you like.
Mind reading or mentalism in general is a fascinating thing, it is the last of our magical arts that is still widely believed by the general population. Maybe because some of what it is based on is actually real. A card trick is cool and people love them, but if you read a mind, bend a spoon or predict something it gets a different reaction. You are automatically given 'scary' status, people credit you with immense intelligence and intellectual power.
If you haven't yet taken the step into mentalism check out my prediction effect Anything, it is the perfect segue into mind reading from magic, it is also easy to do, requires no previous knowledge and is a 100% surefire hit. Come and see what other professionals and hobbyists across the globe are talking about, and more importantly, performing.
8 years ago, I released a PDF of a signed banknote in Sharpie effect. That release spawned an obsession with the plot. I have now spent 8 years refining and working this and coming up with a slew of methods to achieve the effect. 4 full routines and tonnes of techniques so you can craft your own routine if you like. Today Sharp Money is unleashed unto the world. Ellusionist have done a great job making this happen and creating a great product out of my vision. I am super happy to announce this. 2016 brought about a new design update for the Polo packet. I am proud to announce the new design of Linko, the new design looks even better than the last! The striped down minimal design brings a new clarity to the routine. Along with the new design come a couple of new handling and features I have included. An 'in the spectator's hands' link of the actual Polos and a cool handling that allows you to perform Linko, restore the packet back to its original design and hand it out for inspection, this is perfect if you want a quick performance of Linko and don't want to open the packet or give it away, can you imagine how cool it would look if you filmed yourself performing this in a shop?!!?
Along with the new design for Polos I will soon be releasing a US version using their national mints with a hole, Lifesavers. This means that our friends over in the US can also get in on the action and start performing this little miracle. More on that later!
If you want to grab Linko now, here is a link! I want Linko
What a week it has been. If you haven't heard or seen, my homage to the linking rings is out and has been getting great reviews all over. Two cardboard rings are torn from a single playing card, they are signed and then linked together and handed out for examination. That is right, they are permanently linked... forever!
I have many ideas and routines devised around the linking card plot but OCL is my piece de resistance, the closing chapter, the final installment.
It truly am proud of this effect and am humbled by the feedback, messages, shares, reviews and comments, thank you all!
This is just the beginning though, there is plenty more to come from me over the following year so watch closely!
Geek magic, has always been a favourite of mine. Although I rarely perform such a feat of geek I can ALWAYS admire a great performance of a squirmish freakshow calibre piece of strange! Harry Anderson is widely known in the magic fraternity as the creator of one of the best geek effects invented, the Needle Through Arm, now a classic this piece of magic is not only uncomfortable to watch but also thrilling! Please note, this is not the same as what David Blaine is doing in the photo above, David, is what we call in the industry, a nutter! One of the most fantastic people on the planet, but still a nutter! (Love you David! ;) )
So watch this video if you want 7 minutes of entertaining spine tingling EPICness!
So I am just back from a great trip or should I say 'vacation' to the US capital Washington DC. I was lucky enough to also spend the 4th July celebrations there. It was not this celebration that was one of the most memorable though stangely. At 5 am of July 3rd the centre of Washington DC had an eery emptiness. Walking up to Du Pont Circle there was not a pedestrian to be seen or a siren to be heard. It was something I will remember forever. A city usually teaming with activity and a feeling of important business going on all around you was quiet and serene. A perfect start to what was a very memorable week. Another highlight for me was seeing the Lincoln Memorial, a beautiful building with amazing iconic imagery. Some great words were spoken by that man who had a great passion for unity within all people. Sitting on the stairs looking upon the reflection of the Washington Monument in the waters made me think about a lot of things. Mostly the thought of unity. Can true unity ever be achieved? I am a firm believer that you should just be good to people. If the people in the world honestly just wanted to be kind and help each other out we would be a unified world that would only get better and better.
However, I know that this is an ideal, an ideal that cannot exist. The human race cannot live like that, humans hunt. Whether it be a hunt for love or money, power or knowledge it seems to be in our design. This not only makes me feel gutted that true peace will never be found on our planet not just in my generation but in my children's generation and the generations that come after theirs and so on. But it also makes me feel out of place, I don't desire much in the form of 'things' yeah, sure it is nice to have nice things but what really makes me feel amazing are moments that can last a lifetime in your heart. A kind gesture at the perfect moment, a look or touch from a loved one, a walk at 5am through an empty city, these are your true belongings, not things you grasp, but things you feel in your heart.
This video has gone viral, probably many times by now and for good reason! These two start off with what seems to be lame comedy gags with a slightly magical twist, although performed well you do begin thinking, really?? And then they hit you with the best physical comedy I have seen in years, such fun showmanship and amazing timing causes you to watch it with a grin from ear to ear!
This is Gamarjobat (ga-mar-jo-bat - it is easier to pronounce if spelt like this!).
It is rare that you see a performance like this. I laughed my ass off! Kudos Piff, Kudos.
You have to have courage to just go out there and be confident in yourself. Be who you are and be the best you can be and good things will happen.
So this blog post is here so I can look back at it and use it to motivate me to keep trying to populate this blog with all manner of things that I find interesting. It may be a magic video, an essay on my thoughts, a random piece of media that inspires me. Mostly it will just be what I like. So here, this is something I like...
Something about myself.
